I am new to Spresense and I run the 'audio_player' sample project under Ubuntu. I can run the project successfully while I cannot hear anything through my earphone.

My earphone is connected to the headphone jack and it is working fine when connecting to the laptop. The SD card is also in FAT32 format.

I followed the instructions here (Section 4.1) https://developer.sony.com/develop/spresense/docs/sdk_tutorials_en.html#_sample_application_of_audio_player: while it is still not generating audio output.

I am wondering whether the operation of this sample project requires hardware modification? Is it related to section 1.19 https://developer.sony.com/develop/spresense/docs/hw_docs_en.html#_HOW_TO_USE_SPEAKERS of this document? Or the audio_player sample project is not related to the 'how to use speaker'? Right now I have not conducted any hardware modification on the board.

Thanks in advance for any help.

        Hi @larry

I tried to run an audio_player example and it worked. I tried with two different headphones.

This example does not require any hardware modification.

Could you try with other headphones maybe?

        Best Regards,
        Kamil Tomaszewski

@kamiltomaszewski Hi Kamil, Thanks for your reply. I tried 4 different speakers and they all cannot work. Even the very basic audio_beep example cannot work (I tried this under Arduino, Linux and Windows). I am highly suspect that it is sth wrong with my extension board.

            Hi @larry

If you want to use speakers then you have to do some hardware modifications (https://developer.sony.com/develop/spresense/docs/hw_docs_en.html#_HOW_TO_USE_SPEAKERS). If you want to use headphones, you don't have to. So if you are trying speakers, you have to do hardware modification.
